KOCKS
KOCKS
Kocks has not always been known under its today’s name. In 1872, the engineer Carl Franke founded a steel and mechanical company in Bremen. Under its later name Franke Werke, it became a worldwide supplier and builder of complete gas works. These incorporated cranes and conveyor systems for coal handling.
After electricity had become widely accepted, gas and gas works were not needed any longer. Dr. Ing. e. h. Friedrich Kochs took over the company in 1952 and gave it his name. He had been looking for a site to accommodate his engineering firm which supplied steel plants and rolling mills around the globe. In particular, he wanted to produce rolling mills and operate pilot plants.
As an ambitious design engineer, Dr. Kocks promoted the development and improvement of cranes at the Bremen plant. His portainer developed during the 1960s became a model for all of today’s container bridges. After taking over the former Krupp Ardelt group, a producer of port and dock cranes, in 1989, Kocks became the world’s leading manufacturer of Goliath cranes.
For decades, Kocks has been setting standards for high-performing cranes. Today, Kocks is the premium brand in dock and port cranes. Customers trust and appreciate Kocks especially if tendering requests are on the brink of feasibility.
